Siemens Enterprise Communications Positioned in the Leader's Quadrant in the Magic Quadrants for Corporate Telephony and Unified Communications

SEN Group Also Evaluated in Critical Capability Reports for Telephony and UC

MUNICH, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens Enterprise Communications Group (SEN Group), a premier provider of enterprise communications solutions, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. as a Leader in the Magic Quadrants for Corporate Telephony(1) and Unified Communications (UC).(2) In addition, the SEN Group also earned a 4.6 out of 5 Overall rating in Gartner's Critical Capabilities for Corporate Telephony(3)( )and a 4.1 out of 5 Overall rating in the Unified Communications(4) Report.

According to Gartner, the Leader's quadrant of their Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony report contains vendors who "demonstrate strength and can affect market trends in all the criteria on which they are evaluated. Leaders tend to have broad geographical coverage across the globe, or particular strengths in one or more key global markets." The Critical Capabilities report is a comparative analysis which scores competing products against a set of critical differentiators identified by Gartner.

The SEN Group's OpenScape Voice and OpenScape UC Applications are industry leading communications solutions that take advantage of industry standards such as SIP and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to help customers reduce costs, ease integration, and extend existing network investments. By leveraging a data center approach, voice and UC services can be over-layed in existing IT environments, eliminating barriers between communications systems by easily integrating with other complimentary offerings such as IBM Lotus Sametime and Microsoft Office Communication Server. This allows organizations to help reduce costs by centralizing administration and leveraging existing communication systems, while offering carrier-grade service.

Moreover, by giving employees collaboration tools that are designed to be state of the art, organizations may be able to increase productivity, collaborate more effectively and improve customer responsiveness. It may also lower real estate costs by freeing workers from office desks and drive-time commutes, all while helping to keep mobile employees connected and in touch. The need for employee travel may also be reduced, a benefit that not only may save time and money but may also help meet public demands for greener enterprises with lower carbon footprints.

"In my opinion, these reports not only confirm our leading position in the marketplace, they are testimony to the fact that we listen to our customers' needs and understand that they want an incremental approach to UC that will scale with their business and that offers them flexibility to let users decide which communications tools are right for them," said Eve Aretakis, executive vice president of global product management and development at the SEN Group. "In my opinion, the Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities reports point to the strength of our open, standards-based software portfolio and our commitment to helping our customers have the very best and most innovative enterprise communications solutions and services on the market."
