Websense Uses TIBCO's Software to Reduce Application Maintenance and Integration Time by 50 Percent

Infrastructure Software Helps Improve IT ROI and Data Integrity

PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/28/09 -- TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX) today announced that Websense Inc., a global leader in integrated Web, data and email security solutions, has leveraged TIBCO's infrastructure solutions to successfully integrate major disparate IT systems and enabled Websense® to begin the establishment of a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment, improving IT's ability to deliver functionality and capability to the business.

"We acquired a company roughly our same size, and within eight months moved both companies' major business systems to a single set of applications that are integrated via TIBCO," said Jim Haskin, SVP of marketing and chief information officer for Websense. "The TIBCO platform enables us to maximize re-use and to rapidly share and integrate data and systems."

TIBCO's solution for Websense is based on a messaging platform that allows for various benefits such as a single view of customer data, a direct connection to business partners and real-time updates of information that is both consistent and accurate. The company's newly integrated systems have reduced system complexity and IT time spent maintaining applications and interfaces from 70 percent to 20 percent.

"Websense's use of TIBCO's software is a great example of how companies can take advantage of its power and flexibility to integrate disparate systems and data," said Robin Gilthorpe, senior vice president, Americas, TIBCO. "Now, with a common and connected data architecture, Websense has built the foundation for an SOA environment, allowing the company to deliver new systems and functions more quickly with less maintenance overhead."

TIBCO's technology digitized Wall Street in the '80s with its event-driven "Information Bus" software, which helped make real-time business a strategic differentiator in the '90s. Today, TIBCO's infrastructure software gives customers the ability to constantly innovate by connecting applications and data in a service-oriented architecture, streamlining activities through business process management, and giving people the information and intelligence tools they need to make faster and smarter decisions, what we call The Power of Now. TIBCO serves more than 3,000 customers around the world with offices in more than 20 countries and an ecosystem of over 200 partners. Learn more at
